Case Study – The Role of Mentoring in Culture Change

Working with an organisation having to go through traumatic structural change, the Equality Academy at the instigation of the CEO and his team, started a process of training in-house mentors – and the mentees. Then having gained valuable insight to the organisation, and the difficult conversations required, embarked on a series of leaning lab style workshops with the top two tiers of the organisation with great results. CEO “realised this is not ‘your classic training’: this is very much about actively learning to be yourself in a situation. It’s a safe space in which to do it – but the depth of conversation we were getting to incredibly quickly is something that is my experience is relatively unusual … if there is a piece around carrying culture and encouraging others to step up and take their place in that culture carrying.”
