Leader as Facilitator
Facilitation skills are at the heart of professional development for leaders. Even if people management is not your core work, every leader needs to be confident in facilitating teams, meetings, formal events or informal discussions of key issues. Facilitation is the unique way you lead, guide and follow a group or team, be it as an executive or non-executive director, HR specialist, manager, team leader, trainer, internal or external consultant. To achieve excellence as a facilitator is to adapt our facilitation style to the aims, needs, level of experience, energy, duration and to the context of the group or team.
In this programme, you learn to analyse and assess your facilitation style in terms of its dimensions, modes of power and particular interventions – and how all of these are put together. You are also invited to examine your facilitation style in relation to the values and ethics you hold, your psychological make-up, degree of skill and development, the objectives and composition of the learning group and the wider context of business and societal culture.
