Vision and Values: the heart of leadership
Approaching the leadership skill set without asking fundamental questions about individual and organisational vision and values is like prescribing aspirin without inquiring into the cause of a headache. Our commitment at Equality Academy is to engage positively with you in a dialogue about vision and values (link to Vision and Values Programme) at the start of our association. This is done in three ways:
- as part of our initial exploration with you about what you need and how our approach can benefit you and your business (we always include vision and values in this part of our work with you);
- integrated into one of our leadership programmes focusing on other aspects of leadership (for example Team Building (link to Team Building sub-service page), Assertive Leadership (link to Assertive Leadership sub-service page), Leader as Facilitator (link to Leader as Facilitator sub-service page), Leadership Through Change and Transition (link to Leadership Through Change and Transition sub-service page)
- as a programme in its own right (we recommend this if you plan to work with us over the medium- or long-term)
The Equality Academy Vision and Values Programme
Our Values and Vision programme invites between 6 and 8 key leaders in your business together for a rigorous inquiry into the consistency, congruence, and communication of your vision and values:
- “Consistency” refers to whether your values make sense together, or whether they contradict each other, and lead to confused and conflicting messages to your staff and customers
- “Congruence” refers to the extent to which you “walk your talk” ie you live your values in practice
- “Communication” refers to way in which you engage in two-way conversations within the business and with external stakeholders (most importantly, customers), and what this communicates about your vision and values.
Our aim in this programme is to help establish the ethical foundations of excellence in your business.
